Food inflation leaves shoppers steamed
Everyday groceries continue to be more expensive with an inflation rate not seen since 1981 despite an easing in overall prices in August, Statistics Canada said Tuesday.
The broad Consumer Price Index clocked in at seven per cent compared to August 2021.
But inflation, specifically for food, hit almost 11%.
“Prices have exponentially gone up. I don’t think it’s going to go away any time soon,” said Vanessa Burke, who was shopping for her family of five at St. Lawrence Market on Tuesday. “I pick where I shop for certain things. I have changed my grocery stores.”…read more!!!
